Today we’re talking about resiliency and the power of being able to shift and course-correct in life.

One of the most important things we can all strive for and one of the most vital things we have to find within ourselves is resiliency. Not only does it give us the strength to process and get through the most difficult and trying times, but resiliency can also help us to tap into our strengths and find more balance, passion, and purpose in life.

It’s not easy to pick ourselves back up after a painful experience, adjust to a major life change, or see the silver lining in a situation that seems to turn our lives upside down or slam a door right in our face. But, being able to adapt to life’s obstacles and misfortunes, and bounce back when things don’t go as planned, helps us clear a path for brand new opportunities to come into our lives.

My guest, Amy Scruggs, is not only an inspiring and multi-talented human being, but she is also a perfect example of true resiliency. She has spent twenty years as a TV host, recording artist, public speaker, corporate spokesperson, and business executive, and credits each successful new endeavor in her life to the willingness to shift when hit with the unexpected and the courage to ask for what she wants in life without the fear of receiving a “no.”

Amy joins me today to talk about shattering the idea of living in “comfort zones,” the tremendous growth and opportunities that come our way when we stop letting our fears and negative self-talk run the show, and the importance of staying in motion when going through a shift and learning to course-correct as we go.

“Every time that door closes, I find another door. I get out the asphalt and the pavers. I hire the crew, and I create an entirely new road. And sometimes we have to build bridges, but we have to create those new roads. I don’t believe in a comfort zone. We just have zones we choose.”  –  Amy Scruggs

Amy has over fifteen years of professional singing experience performing in front of large audiences.

It is the culmination of these diverse backgrounds, as a professional business executive, public speaker, and her years as a high-profile musician, singer, and TV Host, that has allowed her to become one of the Top Digital Communication Coaches Today. Amy’s book, “Lights, Camera, Action: Media Coaching for Any Professional in Today’s Digital World,” will be in bookstores in October of 2021.

“I have had plenty of no’s, I just don’t give them any value. I just say, “Ok, well that’s great,” because I leap from yes to yes to yes and allow those to become the constant tool belt that is there for me, especially when I hit a low patch, to say, “I can shift again.” Let’s remember all the yeses, and let’s get to that good mindset and not work in fear.”  –  Amy Scruggs
