Today we discuss empowering women at all stages of life through support and most importantly, education.

Special guest and Founder of Just Like My Child Foundation, Vivian Glyck, joins us today to share some of the amazing work that her foundation is doing with young girls in East Africa, and to discuss how empowering women through education can significantly impact their financial success and help them discover the power of their own voice.

Financial Advisor, Cheri Blair, also joins us to discuss how women are 2 1/2 times more likely to end up in poverty since they have a longer life expectancy and are typically the caretakers. She shares empowering insight and advice about how women can grow beautiful financial futures by valuing their future comfort as much as they value their comfort today.

We Discuss:

  • How women are 2 1/2 times more likely to end up in poverty than men
  • What inspired Vivian to form an organization to help children in East Africa
  • What Just Like My Child Foundation is doing to give children a greater start
  • Educating women and helping them find the power of their own voice
  • Bringing all of our voices together and raising up feminine power in the world

“We have got to come together and really raise up feminine power on the planet to match the masculine power so that we can heal some of the issues that are going on.”  –  Vivian Glyck

About Vivian:

Vivian Glyck is a recognized thought leader in global issues facing the health, education, and economic leadership of vulnerable adolescent girls and women in East Africa.

She is the founder of Just Like My Child Foundation which has documented success in increasing acceptance of human rights in developing communities and shifting harmful cultural practices that impede girls from continuing their education.

She started the foundation following the birth of her son, Zak. Having experienced the love of a mother for her child, Vivian woke up to the value of every human life. After learning about the horrific numbers of children dying from malaria and orphaned by the AIDS epidemic, Vivian realized she had to make a difference.

Founded in 2006, the organization has dramatically impacted the lives of thousands of women and children in Uganda and Senegal through initiatives in healthcare, education, microenterprise, social justice, and girls empowerment.

The organization is now primarily focused on implementing their Girl Power Project® which is focusing on reaching 20,000 girls by 2021 and empowering them to stay in school, avoid forced child marriage, pregnancy, violence.

Just Like My Child Foundation was part of Michelle Obama’s Let Girls Learn Initiative as well as The Clinton Global Initiative. She was honored with the Women of Peace award, has been selected as “One of 50 People to Watch” in San Diego Magazine and was featured in MORE magazine for her work in Uganda.

An author and successful marketing director for Deepak Chopra and others, Vivian Glyck, a native New Yorker, currently lives in San Diego with her husband and son. Find out more at www.JustLikeMyChild.org/book-vivian
